Info & Pricing
Prices below are starting points. Final pricing depends on material, options, and complexity. I’ll confirm exact pricing before you pay anything.
Felt
Choosing the right felt is about more than just a look—it’s about how your hat handles the elements and how it feels in your hands. I use rabbit, beaver, and beaver blends exclusively because they represent the best in durability and re-shapability.
Rabbit
$350
Rabbit offers a luxurious entry into high-end headwear without the “stiff” feeling of wool.
Feel: Soft, lightweight, and smooth to the touch.
Performance: Excellent for everyday wear. It holds a crisp shape and takes dyes beautifully, making it the best choice for vibrant or unique colors.
Best For: You don’t plan to punish your hat but you’re not interested in babying it either. It handles a light drizzle just fine, but it’s happiest when kept out of a downpour.
Beaver blend
$550
A blend of Beaver and Rabbit provides a significant upgrade in weather protection along with a finer look and feel while remaining accessible.
Feel: A balanced mix of rabbit and beaver fibers that creates a more dense and luxurious felt than pure rabbit.
Performance: Improved water resistance and a longer lifespan. It’s the “sweet spot” for many hat wearers—tough enough for the trail but refined enough for dinner.
Best For: Daily-driver western hats or travelers who need a hat that can take a bit of a beating and still look sharp.
100% Pure beaver
$700
100% Beaver is the finest material a hatter can work with. It can be refurbished and re-blocked dozens of times over decades, making it a true heirloom.
Feel: Dense and remarkably strong. It has a natural buttery quality that feels substantial yet refined.
Performance: The ultimate in weatherproofing. Because beaver fur has microscopic barbs that lock together tighter than any other fiber, it naturally sheds heavy rain and snow.
Best For: Heritage pieces, working ranch hats, and anyone who wants a hat that will last a lifetime.
Inside & OutSide
Sweatbands
Sweatbands are made from soft but durable sheepskin leather and hand stitched into every hat.
Liners
Liners are made from smooth satin. I can choose a color based on your hat, or can offer a choice of colors available at the time of your order.
Bands
Each band is made to complement its hat. Leather, grosgrain, and barn rope are standard materials, often with a metal or other accent. Premium extras such as horsehair, tooled or braided leather, or layered banding with bandanas, chains, etc can be discussed as well.
I’m always looking for vintage elements to use for banding, and may or may not have any number of things on hand at any given time.

Measuring for a perfect fit
To get the most precise result, you’ll need a flexible fabric measuring tape and a mirror
01
Find your baseline
Place the end of the tape measure against the center of your forehead, about two centimeters above your eyebrows—right where you want the hat to rest.
02
The Full Circle
Wrap the tape around the widest part of your head. Ensure it passes roughly one centimeter above your ears and over the natural bump at the back of your head.
03
Level Check
Look in the mirror to make sure the tape is perfectly straight. If the tape dips at the back or arches too high, the measurement will be off.
04
Snug, Not Tight
Pull the tape so it sits firmly against your skin without pinching. It should mimic the exact fit you’d like from your hat.
05
Record the Result
Note the measurement in centimeters to one decimal place (58.6cm, for example). For the best accuracy, measure three times and use the largest of the three numbers. Take a photo of the tape where it crosses on your forehead.
*Have no fear! After your initial contact, I’ll send you a measuring kit and we will book a call.
